Below you will find definitions of words commonly used when discussing gender identity.
  • Transgender- Anyone who does not identify with the sex they were assigned at birth. This is an umbrella term for those who are gender non-conforming, transsexual, intersex, and many other identities. Transgender is often abbreviated as Trans*

  • Gender Non-Conforming- Someone who does not fit into the conventional gender binary of "boy" or "girl."

  • Intersex- Someone who was born with ambiguous genitalia. Intersex people may identify as Transgender.
